Tips on Tuesday #6

Hey Guys! I have another Tips on Tuesday for you! Here they are:

1. If the polish chips, it's best to remove the paint from the nail and start over. If you don't have time, dip your finger in nail polish remover and smooth over the chipped area and re-apply a topcoat.
I can't wait to try this out!

2.Don’t use fast-dry nail color when you need your mani to last longer than a couple days.
Fast-drying nail polish is great if you want a quick manicure when your in a pinch, but they won't last very long.

3.When one nail breaks, file them all down.
Nobody want uneven nails! Just remember they will grow back!

I found these great tips at http://www.gritandglamour.com

Tips on Tuesday #5

Hey Guys! So once again I apoligize for missing last weeks Tips on Tuesday. I hope this one will make up for it!

1. Try not to remove and reapply polish more than once or twice a week, as it will dry out your nails

2. When applying polish, be sure to bring it over the front edge of the nail and slightly under the tip. This helps prevent chipping.
I have never heard this before, so I am excited to try it out!

3. When polishing, 2 thin coats are better than one thick coat. You'll find it dries faster.

Tips on Tuesday #4

Hey guys! I have another Tips on Tuesday for you all! Again I apologize for the lack of new posts, but things are beginning to die down so I will be ale to post more! Ok so lets get to it!

1. Reapplying your top coat daily and avoiding fast-drying nail polishes will
increase your nail polish length.

2. To remove nail stains, soak nails in 1/2 cup of water and juice of one lemon for up to 15 minutes or soak in hydrogen peroxide or 5-10 minutes. This works great or all your hair colorists who hate to wear gloves when you color! You can also use whitening toothpaste, just brush your nail for a few minutes!

Huh..who knew you could use whitening toothpaste?

3. Apply the nail polish in several THIN coats instead of thick ones.
This is extremely important if you are using any kind of crackle or shatter. You will want to use ONE very thin coat.

4. After applying a second coat of nail polish, skim the brush across the top of your nail tip to prevent chipping.
I thought this idea was brilliant!

Tips on Tuesday! #3

Hey guys! So once again I apologize for not posting, but I have been super busy lately! I have another Tips on Tuesday for you all! Enjoy!

P.S. Feel free to ask any questions you have in the comments! I will use them for next weeks tips!

1.Base coats should dry matte, sticky, and fast.

2.Top coats should dry shiny and slow.

3.Bubbles in your nail polish are caused by insufficient drying time between coats. You must allow each polish coat to dry sufficiently to avoid bubbles.
My mom used to always complain about that! I find that if you do one coat on every finger, on both hands, then go back and do a second coat, that is enough time.

Tips on Tuesday! #2

Hey everyone! I am SO sorry for not blogging lately, but I have been very busy! So here is my Tips on Tuesday!

1. Dab nails with a cotton ball soaked in nail polish remover.
This will clean your nails to ensure a better bond between the polish and your nail.

2. Use a white plastic cutting board to paint your nails on.
I use this idea (my mom came up with it) to prevent nail polish from getting on my bathroom counter! I also swatched and labeled all of my salon nail polishes on it! It looks really cool and it is fun to swatch new colors! The cutting board makes it easy to store and take places too!

3. It is ok to use acetone nail polish removers on real nails.
Some people think that nail polish removers with acetone in them will weaken your nails. They are WRONG (sorry...that was kinda harsh :) oops!) non-acetone nail polish removers are really just for fake and acrylic nails. Acetone is fine on natural nails!

Tips on Tuesday #1

Hey everyone! So I am starting a new kind of post called "Tips in Tuesday" so every Tuesday I will post one or more tips. If you have any tips you would like to share I would love to know them! Also if you have a question you can ask me! Ok so here is this week's Tips on Tuesday!

Never leave nail polish on to the point where it starts chipping. Here are some reasons not to:

1. It is dangerous if you ingest nail polish chips over a long period of time
2. It can restrict nail growth and cause deep ridges to form
3. It can cause the nails to yellow

Steel-ing The Scene

Steel-ing The Scene by Essie is a luxurious gold/steel color. I found it a little difficult to put on because the first coat was rather "streaky." the second coat was fine though and covered up those streaks. I got this color for christmas and it is very pretty. If you like gold colors but are a little scared to go all-out with gold try this color.

Party Polish in the House Tonight!

Hey everyone! These are 3 very fun nail polishes by O.P.I. They are sparkly and fun and so easy to use! For New Years I wore O.P.I's How's it Snowin? and loved it! That one and A Sparkle Yule Love are both from their holiday collection and they go on opaque. They are the coolest sparkle nail polishes I have ever seen! I will post a review about them very soon. Last Friday Night is also by O.P.I and is from the Katy Perry collection. I would recommend putting a color under this as it is goes on as more of a sheer color.

These are colors are (in order from left to right):
How's it Snowin? (O.P.I), Last Friday Night (O.P.I), A Sparkle Yule Love (O.P.I)

Precious purples

Purple is a great year-round color for your nails. You can go with a darker purple for winter/fall or a lilac/lavender for the spring. If you ever need a fun pick-me-up nail color, go for purple! I personally have been loving Lilacism by Essie, even in the winter! I currently have on O.P.I's Planks a Lot and I absolutely love it! It goes on so nice it looks like you went to the salon! I would definitely recommend this!

These Colors Are (in order from left to right):

Pamplona Purple (O.P.I), Planks a Lot (O.P.I) , Lilacism (Essie) , Nice is Nice (Essie)
